Just purchased at a recent military auction! Here is a very nice U. S. Mid 19th century Percussion Target Rifle, often called a "bench" rifle, as these were often supported or shot from a bench. It is in about . 45" caliber, and has a very heavy octagonal barrel with seven groove rifling. At 15lbs, this rifle would see very little recoil during target shooting. We estimate that this octagonal barrel rifle was made
