This is a very fine example of a W. F. Stanley prismatic survey or artillery compass, dating to around 1940. This example is unit marked to the 5016th Airfield Construction Squadron, a good research project. The lid comes off of the compass so the pieces can be set up correctly. The lid is marked STANLEY LONDON MADE IN ENGLAND with the painted marking 5016 A. C. SQUADRON. The compass comes in its original leather case
