With WWI underway to the south of neutral Denmark, the Army decided to introduce a better camouflaged uniform in 1915. The light gray was, in fact, a poorly chosen color and was quickly deemed a temporary measure. Nevertheless, the gray uniform continued to be used up until 1939, although it was officially supplanted by the olive green 1923
