There is evidence of wood alterations to the front of the stock and the escutcheon looks to possibly be made of Silver and depicts what appears to be the Head of an American Native American complete with feathered head dress and a quiver of arrows

The brass hilt is still in nice shape

This is a classic style "Kentucky" Rifle Musket, with brass mounts including hooked butt plate, and exotic trigger guard. It is signed on the lock plate by LANE & REED BOSTON, who worked from 1826 until 1849. The fore end wood in front of the regular half stock appears to have been added to mount the iron
