This is the official U. S. Army Officer's Sword, introduced in the early 1900's (M 1902). It has a four bar nickel plated hand guard, black plastic finger grooved grip, slim slightly curved fully etched and nickel plated blade. The etched design has typical United States Military emblems, including the Federal Eagle, crossed cannons, flags, and so forth. The ricasso is marked on both sides with U. S. A. MADE N. S.
