these carry straps were pressed into service for D-Day having been an un-canceled order for the North African desert campaign which ended in 1943 with the invasion of Italy

taking the county affiliation from the 62nd Foot (which became the 1st Battalion) and the honorific from the 99th Foot (which became the 2nd Battalion)

These map cases are the smaller of the two. The map case consists of a wood board with canvas cover.
