Manufactured using blades from obsolete socket bayonets at the Manufacture d'armes Chatellerault, around 24,000 were produced for use by boarding parties. In October 1915, 10,500 of these dirks were issued to French troops as trench daggers. This example is in great shape with a clear Naval anchor inspection stamp on the crossguard.
