Secretary with flap in rosewood and palisander, of a moving shape, veneered in butterfly wings, opening with two leaves, two drawers and a flap revealing four drawers and four compartments, the gray marble top resting on uprights with a cut off end finished with small arched feet.
Grey marble top.
Stamp of Jean-Georges Schlichtig, cabinetmaker received master in 1765 and JME.
Louis XV period.

An excellent cabinetmaker based on the rue du Faubourg-Saint-Antoine in Paris, Jean Georges Schlichtig (died in 1782), most likely worked for Marie-Antoinette. He made furniture in the Louis XV, Transitional Louis XV and Louis XVI, and Louis XVI styles, and in particular chests of drawers and secretaries.
